March 20, 2023 — Recent significant events in our industry have created confusion and concern for many, including our customers and neighbors.

First and foremost, I want to reassure you that WesBanco is a well-capitalized financial institution with a sound balance sheet and solid liquidity. Further, we are focused on ensuring a strong institution and partner for our communities, just like we have for the last 153 years. We take pride in our community banking roots and strive to meet your needs and live up to your expectations daily.

The events that have occurred throughout the past week were the result of financial institutions with very different operating models and strategies than a community bank, like us. The two banks that failed were entirely different organizations with deposit concentrations and uninsured deposits representing a substantial portion of their total deposits.

WesBanco, like most community banks, has a balanced, diversified, and granular loan and deposit distribution network with a substantial percentage of insured deposits. Reflecting our strong legacy of credit quality, underwriting, risk management, and compliance, our capital position remains solid, as demonstrated by regulatory capital ratios that are above the “well-capitalized” standards.

Why do I feel compelled to tell you all this? Because sometimes in the midst of the noise from the news and social chatter and speculation, we need to rally around facts and data, as well as a proven track record of success.

WesBanco has always prioritized financial strength and stability and we are focused on continuing to meet the needs of our customers and communities for the next 150 years.

Please feel free to reach out to one of our knowledgeable employees across our 194 locations or through our online portal. We remain ready to serve you.
