October 17, 2022, Pittsburgh, PA — WesBanco was among the well-known foundations and companies that funded $2.7 million to create the Moonshot Museum in Pittsburgh’s North Side.

Jennifer Hribar, VP District Manager and Chair of the WPA Community Development Council, was instrumental in securing a grant of $120,000 from the WesBanco’s New Markets Tax Credit Impact Fund to contribute to the project.

The WesBanco Bank Community Development Corporation (WBCDC) created the New Markets Impact Fund with the interest earned from its New Markets Loan Program. Through the Impact Fund, the WBCDC provides direct financing through loans, investments and grants that benefit economically distressed communities and disadvantaged businesses in an effort to stabilize communities and promote revitalization and development.

The museum is located in Manchester and will hold programs for youth throughout the Pittsburgh area and West Virginia to learn about space and future career opportunities in the growing space industry. They will also hold online programs for youth that can be viewed from anywhere in the country.

The museum is associated with and shares space with Astrobotic Technology, a Pittsburgh company, that has large contracts with NASA to build and send landing modules, rovers and other items to the moon’s surface.
